I think there was a similar thread before the relaunch. There is apparently an older woman in my town who carries around pens and paper and writes people's names in beautiful Gothic style calligraphy to give them. My friend just posted to Facebook one she got while working at a local theater, and on her comments, several people mention having gotten one at restaurants and places over the years. That's when I remembered that a lady behind me in line at the grocery store did one of my son's name sometime last year. I was very frazzled that day, but it was a sweet gesture that made me smile. Just goes to show that you can use even a small or conventionally "useless" talent to make someone's day better. Anything similar you do or have seen?
I don't do that necessarily, but when I am parking in a metered spot I always try to put another hour or two on the other side of the meter if there is a car there. Where I work the nearest parking garage is about two blocks away uphill, so most of the people who work there park at meters in front of their building. I figure it's the least I can do for someone to make it easier for them, especially since that spot is across the street from an inner city school and the police station, and close to a couple of medical places that cater to quite a large portion of the poverty population here.
